Christmas Question

I have a question. ITS ONLY A QUESTION DONT SHOOT ME.
[InsertStupidQuestionHere] Why is Christmas also known as Xmas? [/InsertStupidQuestionHere]
By simple maths I have concluded that Christ = X
But X is the 24th letter of the alphabet. But Christ isnt.
'Well duh. X means something else idiot.'
What else could X symbolize? So I searched wiki.
In algebra, X is very commonly associated with an unknown variable.
Marks the spot, as on a map of buried treasure.
In musical notation, a double sharp, raising a note by one full step.
In genetics, the X chromosome.
A placeholder or modifier in usernames (e.g. MagmaX or ixamxthexmaster) (HAHA IDIOTS.)
In the MPAA rating system, X used to indicate an adults-only film. The rating, which was not trademarked, is now widely used to denote pornographic films.
Okay.. I agree with the unknown variable part cause Christ is kinda like an 'unknown' variable.
But why is X = Christ
Then.. anyone named Christine would be called Xine in short. And since when did science and religion intertwine? Christ chromosome?
NO. Dont say the X represents a cross. HOW DOES IT REPRESENT A CROSS!? A cross is like †.
Unless its bent sideways, † wouldn't look like an X.
See the difference?
† X
JESUS X...
Sounds like some cartoon superhero to me.
So. Answer my question? =D
No pictures. Perhaps a little story to laugh at? (I seriously mean LITTLE.)
