Random Music 21/08/08

Again. Because there are some super fantastic albums out this week.

Starting with the hardcore rocks..

Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
Release August 26th

Usually I wouldnt listen to Slipknot, but their recent (4th) studio album, Hope Is Gone, is really different from the rest. If you're not into the heavy metal kinda thing then skip this. Their music now consists of acoustic guitars and other additions, even clean singing (well in just one track, Sulfur). Most tracks have a clean melodic progression, which shows a more mainstream (less extreme?) side of Slipknot. I like. Especially the crazy percussion.

To the less hardcore..

Staind - The Illusion of Progress
Released August 19th

Staind, probably best known for their older songs 'Its been a while', and 'So far Away'  are now back with their 13-track album, The Illusion of Progress. The songs on this album are so much lighter than previous. With a smaller impact, which makes it somewhat radio friendly. If you're expecting something better than their previous albums or at least at par, this album would be as it states: an illusion of progress. The conclusion? If you dont mind Staind at a lighter level, this album is for you.

And to the piano rocks..

Jack's Mannequin - The Glass Passenger
Release September 30th?

Havent heard from them in a while, due to the lead singer having cancer and all, they're back. The album will be in stores in about a month and a week, but its leaked. Bad bad record label. I wouldnt say it's their best album... Somehow, the songs get repetitive and sound the same. Don't get it. After being MIA for so long, guess they should have stayed that way..

And ending with probably the best release this week year..

Lady GaGa - The Fame
Released August 19th

Woah. Incredible debut album. Seriously very very hot. If you thought Just Dance was good then the rest of the album would be like... ten times more addictive. Every song is addictive until its soo unfair, Im hooked. The Fame showcases a variety of her talents as an artist, covering hard dance tracks, reggae, and to the more vocal centered tunes, all rolled up in her addictive magic. This album is a drug. Perfect. Cant wait for her next album already.
If you have ears you'd get this album.

Yay. More music!

If you like alternative Irish rock...

The Script - The Script
Released August 11th

Yet another debut release, The Script are a three piece band from Dublin. Their single We Cry has been out for quite a while; but to me, the bridge (rapping?) of the song sounds like a rip off Jason Mraz while the rest of the song repeats over basically the same tune which gets repetitive after a couple of listens. The lyrics are worth a listen though, which sort of compensates for the predictable chorus.

Well that's just my two cents about their single.
Now for the rest of the album. I'd say its very good. Most songs start of slow sounding, and end up bursting into life. Very similar to the rich soul of One Republic but with an Irish twist

If you like One Republic (thats like, 70% of the world?) you'd definitely want this album. So get it. Somehow.

Jonas Brothers - A Little Bit Longer
Released August 12th

And recently the Jonas Brothers released their third album.. Whats there to say that has not been said? Typical Jonas Brothers songs all in one CD. You either like them or hate them. Both ways, they're still overrated. The album cover is not bad though.. yada yada yada...

Then the rest are released singles.

David Archuleta had his first single Crush out a while ago. Worth a listen if you like upbeat pop ballads. Still waiting for Cook though.

And Chris Brown has another single out called Dreamer. Sounds like an Olympics theme song to me, motivational lyrics and all that.. Edit: It IS an Olympics theme song!

Okay thats all for now. If you want ANY of these songs, ask me for em in the chatbox. =D

P.S. These highlight thingys are fun.

A Musical post. :D

If you like rocks..

Trapt - Only Through the Pain
Released August 5th

Their best album yet since their single 'Headstrong' in 2002, a huge leap from their previous album, Someone In Control, which was in my opinion quite horrible, but they're back on track, the best song on the album would be Black Rose, love the lyrics and it's minimalistic intro, and the short but awesome guitar solo near the end. :D
Recommended if you liked their previous songs, and thei
r music is somehow reminiscent of Story Of The Year's album The Black Swan. Try something new. Download Buy the album!

Hawthorne Heights - Fragile Future
Released August 5th too!

Emo rock? Even so, (as if emo rock were a bad thing) Hawthorne Heights have managed to pull themselves away from the stereotypical styled emo bands and actually produce... music. Due to the death of one of the bands guitarist/vocalist; there is no more shouting (unfortunately) in this album, which I thought made Hawthorne Heights stand out. I preferred their older albums though. Not worth buying unless you're a fan.

If you like gays..

The Jonas Brothers! Out with a new single called Tonight, like all their songs, it has NICE tunes dont get me wrong but the vocals are just gay. Theres a whiny whimpering note to their singing which is seriously annoyingly gay. But its not like I can do better. Lol. Yeah, go ahead and download it for free or something, I dont support em. =P

If you are a girl or gay...

Keri Hilson - In a Perfect World
To be released on September 23rd..

First heard of her on Timbaland's album, which featured her in two songs that we've all heard, 'Scream' and 'The Way I are'. Now shes releasing her debut album, In a Perfect World.
Energy
, the first single off the unreleased album shows much promise. With pop-ish piano runs at the start, and then the bass (which should have been louder) and then the digitally enhanced vocals. Sounds like a song Jordin Sparks would sing... very princess pop yet I listen to it. Looking forward to her new album like a new set of barbie dolls. =\

12. Come Home 4:23
13. Apologize (Remix) 3:05

Yup, its their new album.
Honestly, before the remix of Apologize came out in Timbaland's album, I've never really heard of em as they've only made several appearances in 2006. The band was found in 2004, but it never really surfaced, however, they're the no.1 band on Myspace.

Dreaming Out Loud is to be released on the 20th of November.
And thanks to Malaysian technology, I've heard it already. AND ITS GOOD. I'd rate it a 9/10.

The album consists of songs which are more on the slower side of rock or altern-rock and some may say christian rock. But I quote this from the band..

"We're no respector of genre," says frontman Tedder, "If it's a good song or a good artist whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, they've probably influenced us on some level...nothing's new under the sun, we're a sum of a bunch of parts." They aspire to move their listeners the way Bono does onstage. 'You go to a U2 concert and it's like church,' Tedder says. 'I'd love to make people feel like that'. I don't want someone to just say, "Oh, nice voice, nice song." 'I want that person to walk away and feel like he or she has had a religious experience; we want them to feel moved.'

Indeed, their songs are moving. If you liked Apologize, you'll love the album. Each song in its own way makes a connection with the listener; and theres only one word to describe the album, touching.

So? GO BUY THE ALBUM!! Its only $9.99 on Amazon. And RM5 in kenyalang. (No I didnt buy it there. Dont think they even have it. =.=)
Have doubts? Visit their Myspace.
Wanna WIN a free album?! Comment and you'll stand a chance (seriously). =D
